Real Property Management Services

Meeting real property needs today and tomorrow

DCC’s Real Property Management Services service line supports DND’s real property assets throughout the entire real property lifecycle—from needs planning and land acquisition to asset development and decommissioning.

DCC’s real property strategic planning support extends across four areas:

  • Portfolio management: supporting capital asset management planning with building condition assessments, heritage building guidance, and risk and options analyses.
  • Facility management: developing optimal facility maintenance approaches to meet specific operational and maintenance needs, and managing multi-year industry contracts.
  • Maintenance planning: identifying essential activities to help the Client-Partners achieve the best lifecycle value for real property assets, and integrating industry best practices by developing asset inventories and associated maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Development planning: conducting land use planning, including identifying existing and intended property uses, creating real property development plans and engaging consultant support for specialized studies, such as market value analyses.

The service line provides technical services to the Client-Partners in several specialized fields:

  • Fire prevention and life safety. Fire and life safety technical specialists in the National Capital Region help deliver DND’s fire and life safety program. Team members carry out fire inspections, fire engineering and plan review, training, fire investigations and building emergency preparedness activities.
  • Spatial data services. A team of CAD/BIM/GIS specialists provides real property spatial data collection, analysis, mapping and drafting/modelling services.
  • Energy management. Certified DCC energy managers liaise with utility providers to help DND acquire energy rebates and provide guidance on incorporating sustainability features into new construction and recapitalization projects. The service line also uses contractual agreements such as energy performance contracts to help the Client-Partners achieve energy savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
