The inaugural DND and DCC Industry Day on November 13, 2025, brought together industry and government experts to share insights into the Government of Canada’s defence investments and what they mean for infrastructure projects.
More than 800 participants—ranging from contractors and consultants to representatives of industry associations and government—engaged in presentations and panels on the theme Building Defence: Strength Through Infrastructure, with the event offering both in-person and virtual participation.
“Attracting such a diverse and engaged audience for a first-ever event underscores the relevance of the topics discussed,” said Nicolas Forget, DCC’s Vice-President, Operations–Procurement. “The open discussions, practical insights, and meaningful exchanges that took place between government and industry set a strong foundation for future collaboration as defence infrastructure spending increases.”
Senior leaders from DCC and DND, including Derrick Cheung, DCC’s President and CEO, and DND’s Deputy Minister Stefanie Beck and Assistant Deputy Minister, Infrastructure and Environment, Peter Hammerschmidt, all spoke at the event. Panel sessions featured other executives from both organizations, along with representatives from industry associations.
Feedback was very positive, with participants indicating that they appreciated hearing from senior leaders about the collaborative way forward for defence infrastructure. They also said they were glad to learn about upcoming opportunities and how their organizations can contribute to these projects.
“This day was a huge success, thanks to the combined efforts, and attention to detail, of the DCC–DND organizing team,” said Nicolas. “It was a powerful example of what can be achieved when commitment, collaboration and expertise come together with a shared purpose.”
