After stepping into the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on September 9, 2019, Derrick Cheung already has a clear impression of the culture that drives DCC.

"What has impressed me is how resilient and dedicated the DCC team is. I've noticed strong collaborations, and a very strong business acumen," Cheung says.

Armed with deep experience in the infrastructure, defence and energy sectors, and a strong leadership background, Cheung views DCC as an enabler that can facilitate effective and efficient delivery of the highly specialized projects that support Canada's defence and security infrastructure.

"I feel DCC is in a very unique position and can bring a tremendous amount of value to the Client-Partners and the Government of Canada. Those were the key things that intrigued me the most about coming to DCC," he notes. "DCC delivers. It brings together a 'let's get it done' approach with commercial and business expertise to partner with industry to manage and deliver projects cost effectively and efficiently."

As Cheung looks to the future, one of his highest priorities focuses on building relationships with key stakeholders, including Client-Partners, federal government offices, other levels of government, industry associations, and First Nations, to name a few.

"I'm also looking forward to meeting DCC team members across the country," he says. "I really want to get an understanding of the projects they're working on, any suggestions they have on how DCC can improve, and how I am able to support them."
