Defence Construction Canada has created a new Pacific Region that enhances the Corporation’s delivery of all its services to Department of National Defence in the West. This new region will also enable increased capacity in the Western Regional Office in Edmonton, which along with a Regional Operations Manager, has supported DND’s real property assets in British Columbia since the 1990s.

“The team has worked incredibly hard to manage the Pacific Region through increasing requests for our services,” says Ross Welsman, DCC’s Vice-President, Operations—Business Management. “This transition will align with our Client-Partner’s structure and priorities, and enhance both program delivery and communications for work volumes that are busy now, and expected to continue for the foreseeable future.”

Regional Director Danny Gruner will lead the new region. Formerly Regional Service Line Leader, Real Property Management Services in Edmonton, she has been instrumental in supporting key technical services such as facilities maintenance and energy performance contracts.

“Across the country, the size and complexity of the services we deliver has expanded,” says Welsman. “In the Pacific Region, there’s a very large number of projects to upgrade the naval dockyard in Esquimalt, preparing for new ships, while the airfield at Comox has grown as well. It’s the right time to set up the regional office, which will also provide additional career advancement opportunities for DCC employees.”
