Derrick Cheung re-appointed as President and CEO of Defence Construction Canada

Moreen Miller, Chair of the Board of Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is pleased to confirm the Government of Canada’s reappointment of Derrick Cheung as President and Chief Executive Officer of DCC. This announcement is made on behalf of the Honourable, Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement. His Excellency the Governor General in Council made this re-appointment on the recommendation of the Minister following his consultation with the DCC Board of Directors.

“Derrick Cheung brings a high level of expertise, strong leadership and business acumen that is needed to ensure DCC continues to deliver on its mandate,” said Ms. Miller. “I am pleased that he has agreed to continue in this important role and look forward to his continued leadership.”

Derrick Cheung was first appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of DCC in September 2019 through an open, transparent, and merit-based process run by the Privy Council Office. His career includes senior management roles with large publicly-traded, private and public organizations. He brings expertise in the defence, transportation, infrastructure, real estate, and energy industries. Mr. Cheung is a Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and holds master’s degrees in Laws (International Business), Business Administration, and Arts (Leading Innovation and Change). He is also a former Advisory Committee member of the University of Waterloo’s Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics.

This reappointment is for a term of five years effective September 9, 2024.
